Horror has a new name: introducing Courtney Alameda.

Micheline Helsing is a tetrachromat—a girl who sees the auras of the undead in a prismatic spectrum. As one of the last descendants of the Van Helsing lineage, she has trained since childhood to destroy monsters both corporeal and spiritual: the corporeal undead go down by the bullet, the spiritual undead by the lens. With an analog SLR camera as her best weapon, Micheline exorcises ghosts by capturing their spiritual energy on film. She's aided by her crew: Oliver, a techno-whiz and the boy who developed her camera's technology; Jude, who can predict death; and Ryder, the boy Micheline has known and loved forever.

When a routine ghost hunt goes awry, Micheline and the boys are infected with a curse known as a soulchain. As the ghostly chains spread through their bodies, Micheline learns that if she doesn't exorcise her entity in seven days or less, she and her friends will die. Now pursued as a renegade agent by her monster-hunting father, Leonard Helsing, she must track and destroy an entity more powerful than anything she's faced before . . . or die trying.

Lock, stock, and lens, she’s in for one hell of a week.

Since Halloween is on Friday, I think Shutter would be the prefect book to read about now! Just look at that cover, it screams Halloween to me. Shame it isn’t out until February… a little over a week before Valentine’s Day. Yeah… I digress. I adore this cover, and it’s easily one of the creepiest covers I’ve seen in a while. I adore ghost stories and if this lives up to the synopsis, then it has so many elements I love to read about! *Fingers crossed* it’s amazing!

What book are you anxiously waiting on this week?

  1. YIKES! I'm not much of a horror fan - unless it's zombie horror. Ghost horror though, it's a little too real for my tastes. I agree these kind of reads are perfect for the month of October!

I hope you enjoy it when it releases!

    1. It really would be perfect to read around now! I have no idea why they decided February was the best time to release it. Oh well! I'll still read it then :D I do love ghost stories, and they do have that little bit of 'within the realms of possibility' realism to them. Plus, I used to love those ghost hunter shows on TV, so it's kinds of transferred to the books I read! Thanks for stopping by, Holly!

  5. Oh nice! That looks creepy with the cover!! Saw this earlier somewhere as well! Might need to look into it because I am always willing to try a creepy read! Figure I can handle those better than horror movies anyway! Which is odd considering I have a very active and vivid imagination!

    Here's my WoW

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Yeah, I'm a bit too chicken for horror movies myself! I much prefer horror books :D At least with a book you can put it down for a bit, and come back to it without missing anything! Thanks for stopping by, Jessica!
