My Review Policy

Review Policy

Thanks for considering me to review your book!

Please, read my full review policy before submitting a request! Thank you.

Updated: 19th April 2017

Review Requests: **Currently only accepting YA Science Fiction and Fantasy books.** I'm very sorry, but I'll be ignoring all other requests.

Collaborative / Guest posts: Temporarily not accepting requests. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please note: I no longer participate in book blitzes.

I will consider all requests I receive, but I cannot guarantee that I will accept. I only accept review requests via email, and I’m sorry, but all other methods of contact will be ignored.

My email address is:

journeythroughfictionblog@gmail[dot]com

Genres I WILL Read

Right now, my preferred age range is Young Adult. I’m open to both New Adult and Adult reads, though I tend to be quite picky with what I read in these ranges. Have a look through my Review Archive and Rating System pages, and see some of the books I’ve read and/or reviewed in the past, and how my rating system works.

I'm very sorry, but currently I'm not accepting requests from Indie and Self-Published authors.

Preferred Genres:
  • Fantasy
  • Sci – Fi
  • Paranormal

... and all their respective sub-genres.

I will accept, though less frequently:
  • Contemporary
  • Horror
  • Historical
  • Mystery/Thriller
  • Romance

Genres I WILL NOT Read

  • Middle Grade
  • Childrens
  • Non-Fiction
  • Political
  • Self-Help
  • Religious
  • Memoires/Biographies

Contact for Reviews:

Please include as much information as you can about your book to help me decide if it fits my tastes. I would greatly appreciate if you could include the following:

  • Book Title and Author Name
  • Book Cover
  • Synopsis
  • Release Date
  • If there is a timeframe/deadline for the review
  • Relevant links, e.g. to Goodreads etc.
  • Any other information you think could help me.

My contact email address is:

journeythroughfictionblog@gmail[dot]com

Please, do not include a copy of your book with your initial review request email. I’m sorry, but I will ignore those requests by default - I love being asked to read a book, but I don’t like feeling forced or taken for granted.

Formats

I accept eARCs and eBooks, and I’m also on Netgalley. My preferred formats are ePub or Mobi, but I can also accept PDF.

I also accept physical ARC’s and books, on request. For physical books, please note that I’m based in the Republic of Ireland.

Some Things to Note

I’m a mood reader, and if I accept your review request, I’ll happily read it when my mood matches its particular genre. This is why I ask if there is a time-frame/deadline for the review requests in advance. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to change my moods on command yet, so I can only accept a limited number of ‘deadline’ requests at a time!

(Naturally, the above does NOT apply to Blog Tours - once I have my tour date confirmed with you, I will post my review on that date!)

Once I accept a book for review, they will be read and reviewed as soon as I can. Please note that requesting a review will not guarantee I will review the book..

I will do my best to respond to emails as quickly as I can. I do not appreciate mass impersonal emails, and I will refuse a request based on this. If I accept your request, I will give my honest opinion, whether it is positive or negative. I have recently started to DNF books… and this is something I really dislike the thoughts of doing. In these circumstances, if I choose to post about the book on the blog, I will post my thoughts up to the point I’ve read, why I felt I couldn’t continue, and I’ll clearly state I haven’t read the full book.

Disclaimer

I am not financially compensated for my reviews here on Journey Through Fiction. All the books featured on this blog that I have reviewed I have either purchased a copy of the book, won a competition/giveaway, or received a copy for free in exchange for an honest review. I clearly state if I have received a review copy. All my reviews are my honest opinion based on my thoughts and feelings while reading the book.
