This Weeks Question:
Do you post your reviews anywhere besides your blog?
Where else do you post reviews?
Yes, to Goodreads! I have posted my reviews to multiple sites before, but the only one I consistently post to these days is Goodreads. I’m familiar with it and I use it all the time anyway, so it’s the most convenient option for me. My one gripe? No half-star ratings! Books just don’t fit into one neat little box, and I use halves in my own rating system on the blog. Both Leafmarks and Booklikes have half-stars, so I don’t see why Goodreads can’t join in! (*cough* Sorry for the mini-rant!)
I’ve considered posting to Amazon again, but it all comes back to the rating system, and it’s light-years away from how I rate my books! Then when you add in the drama factor... to me, it's not worth it.
I always post my reviews on my blog first, though! I’ve read a few posts warning against duplicate content, and posting the same review to multiple sites can have a negative impact on page views and your SEO... When I did read those posts, half of the information went straight over my head and now I kind of wish I had paid a bit more attention!
I also always post on Goodreads! Definitely agree with you on half stars. Why can't Goodreads have that? I bet it's not even very hard to put in :S
ReplyDeleteGoodreads and my Blog!! They're awesome! I don't really know if I want half stars on Goodreads but sometimes, I DO want it. *shrugs*

I post to both Goodreads and Amazon. The rating system is why my blog doesn't have half ratings. Its all just too much for me. I like the 1-5 keeps it simple for me.
ReplyDeleteI should definitely start posting to Goodreads! I'm way too lazy. New follower on bloglovin'!

Even If It's Not Real
Huh...never thought about those things regarding crossposting the same review. That's pretty much what I do exactly!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to the half ratings rant! That bugs me on Goodreads. Depending on how I felt about the book I either round up or down for the missing .5! And Amazon...while I post there, I cannot stand there ratings! How 1 star = I hated it! And that's soooo not it for me! 1 star just meant it wasn't for me, though I gave it a try!
Here's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I almost always post my reviews to GR first, then they get scheduled to go up on the blog. Although, with all of the changes to GR I don't feel like it's so stable and offering the best as it used to, so I'm looking into another type of place that's similar but a little better. :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower to your lovely blog, really enjoying the content.
Happy Reading and Hopping Through! :)
Suz @ A Soul Unsung
I only post my reviews to Goodreads as well. I've thought about posting on Amazon as well but then I always forget. Sometimes I even forget to post the reviews on Goodreads.
ReplyDeleteHappy FF! Old follower.
Cassi @ My Thoughts Literally
I don't really know how the SEO thing works, either, Alma, but I think that for me, the most important thing is ot get word out there about the books I've read :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier. Happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
First let me say that I love the design of your blog. It's just pretty to look at. :)
ReplyDeleteI admit to being one of those people who get a bit paranoid about duplicate content. I agree with others that getting the reviews out and seen is important. But I change my post up just a little bit so they are not exactly alike in the places
The post/review goes on my blog first, then if I got the book from NetGalley there next. Goodreads when i remember, and I have to work on updating over there.

Goodreads is a great way to keep track of everything you read. It's also the other place where I post aside from my blog.
ReplyDeleteNew follower on bloglovin
Amazon can get a little crazy at times when it comes to review. I do love Goodreads! Thank you for stopping by. :)
ReplyDeleteOld follower
I love your blog!! Goodreads is so awesome! I definitely agree with the half star ratings!! When I post a review, I round up, but it seems a bit misleading giving a 4.5 star book 5 stars. Lol! I checked out your Goodreads shelves and we have very similar tastes so I added you! I also followed you back via Bloglovin'! (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my page!
I too post mostly to Goodreads and my blog! AND YES!!!! I REALLY wish Goodreads would let us have half stars! It is one of my biggest gripes too. As well as not being able to count rereads towards the yearly reading challenges. It just bugs me.
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to have to look into the copy and paste posting stuff. I hadn't heard about it being bad before today. I have just found it easier to copy and paste. Though I mostly only do it to Goodreads.
Thanks for the follow and for stopping by my blog! :D
New Follower via Bloglovin' (I also sent a friend request on goodreads)
