It’s been so long since I’ve written a wrap-up post! I’m linking up to both Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post memes this weekend.
Re-Cap
Both Christmas and New Years ended up being quite quiet – it’s always one way or the other, isn’t it. Either really manic or really calm! Thankfully it allowed me to chip away at a blog redesign, and help me to come up with a few resolutions to keep in mind this year. Last year, I felt everything ‘blog’ took over. While this is brilliant in one sense, it’s not so great in another. I have so many other things I’m passionate about and love doing, and I ended up neglecting all of them quite a bit. This year = BALANCE! (Hopefully, anyway!)
January is also the month I make a promise to shake off a few pounds. (Don’t we all!) This year, I’m making a little change in my resolution – I’m going to forget about what the scales say, and simply start eating a bit healthier. To make it a little harder, I don’t want to give up all the foods I love… so I’m going to try and make them a bit less bad for me! I was contemplating a low carb diet, and I instantly dismissed it. Do you really think I could stay away from bread, pasta, rice, or POTATOES for the rest of my life!? Heck NO! They’re all-round heavenly yummy foods! So, back to the old 1 calorie for you, and 2 calories for you diet. If I make some sort of culinary break through, and I discover a way to make a burger and chips that only add up to a 100 calories, I’ll let you know, LOL!
Bookish Things
I didn’t get as much reading done as I’d have liked while I was on a break from blogging, but the books I did read ended up being a mixed bunch. Dangerous Girls was really good – except I knew who the murderer was VERY early on. I guess I’ve read way too many Agatha Christie books over the years or something, *shrugs*. I also read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and The Dead Girls’ Dance by Rachel Caine, and I really enjoyed both of them. The other books I read… not so much!
2015 has started off really good though. With the redesign taking a good chunk of my attention, I haven’t read that many books yet. But… the three I’ve read I’ve rated 4 stars and above! Maybe 2015 will turn into a quality over quantity year? Who knows!
So far my favourite has been Tunnel Vision by Susan Adrian. I’m so excited to be taking part in the blog tour for its release later on this month, and ohh gosh, I thought it was AWESOME! Can’t say much more right now, but if you like Sci-fi/Paranormal thrillers, you should consider adding it to your wishlist/TBR – I don’t think you’ll regret it!

Ensnared by A.G. Howard
It arrived this week! Ensnared!! My most anticipated 2015 release and we haven’t even got to the end of January. It’s not much of a surprise that I began reading it once it arrived! So far, I love it. :D But… GAHH! There are two characters I’d love to throttle with my bare hands, and another I’d love to shake some sense into. Thank God for one character in particular. The-character-who-shall-not-be-named-but-forever-adored really has made this series for me.
Oh, and Wonderland! I LOVE this version so much =)
Books I’ve Received/Bought
eARC from the Publishers – Tunnel Vision by Susan Adrian – Thank you St. Martin’s Press! Bought – Ensnared by A.G. Howard
I’m 99.99999% positive I got a couple more ebooks, but for the life of me I cannot remember what they are! I really do need to check on my Kindle's more often...
I'm so glad you're reading Ensnared!! That has definitely been my favorite ending to a series to date. And I can totally sympathize with your resolution. I've been trying to eat healthier too. My husband is away for work and is in the gym every day! I'm lazy, so I've been counting calories again. Are you on My Fitness Pal? And I've never thought about linking up with those memes, so thanks for the idea! My weekly wrap up will be posted tomorrow!

Ooh, that ending! I don't remember reading anything quite like it before... I usually avoid spoiler in my reviews at all cost, but this time, I'm debating writing my Ensnared review with spoilers and all, 'cause I JUST HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT!!
DeleteAnd LOL, I absolutely detest gym-style exercises - walking though, I'll happily do! Plus, my dog kind of demands a walk, so there is that, hahaha! (Siberian Husky, and FULL of energy. Seriously, sometime she makes me tired looking at her!) I did download the My Fitness Pal app! I like it so far, it makes all the tracking and counting so much easier. What makes me even happier - I'm eating food I actually like, not diet food! So, hopefully, I'll stick with it *finger crossed!*
Ooh, definitely link up with them! I love The Sunday Post meme. It's great for weekly updates, and so many awesome blogs take part :D
I'm on the healthy eating buzz too and it's so much easier this time of year when so many others are too. And I'm trying to find balance too, there is more to life than blogging but I also love blogging, so it's tricky. But fingers crossed we can do it all :) Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is! Everyone is on the healthy buzz, and it really helps! And, yes!! I'd love if we could magically get another couple of hours added onto the day - it would make getting everything done so much easier!
DeleteThese books are all so new to me! I'm gonna add this to my to be read list for sure! :)

Thanks for stopping by, Christine =)
DeleteHAHAH ISN'T ENSNARED THE END OF THE TRILOGY??? I hope my library gets it because then I would take out both Unhinged and Ensnared and read them both. AND YAY NEW BLOG DESIGN. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this already BUT IT'S SO PRETTY. Also I love the butterfly favicon you added, it's so cute.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2015 is better for you! And yes make sure to focus on being healthy and not only losing weight! AND READ MORE AND MORE BOOKS GO GO GO GO
Awww thanks, Val! So glad you like the design, I was afraid it'd be too plain... and I didn't want to go overboard either! I prefer cleaner, simpler designs, and I'm pretty happy with it =)
DeleteYep, Ensnared is the last in the trilogy *sobs* BUT, it's totally worth reading it!
I've been on so many diets over the years, and my memory of them is 'hungry' or 'ravenous' hahahaha! I love my food, so as long as I can eat the things I like, but in a healthier way, and still shake off some lbs... I'll be VERY happy :D
